This erases the computer you install it on

The whole internal drive is wiped. There is no dual boot. Use a machine you do not need.

Then, four steps

  1. 01

    Write the image to a USB stick

    Any stick 4 GB or larger. Flashing erases it.

  2. 02

    Boot the target machine from USB

    Hold the boot menu key as it powers on. Usually F12, F11, or Esc.

  3. 03

    Let it install

    It takes the whole internal drive. Unplug the stick when asked.

  4. 04

    Finish setup from your phone or laptop

    Open start.local on the same network. Pick your name, save the recovery phrase, and paste your claim code when it asks.

You will need a claim code

Setup asks for a one-time code to register the box and give it an address on the internet. Pre-flashed sticks come with one printed on the card; otherwise ask us for one before you start. We are still issuing them by hand, so do that first rather than part way through setup.
